Welcome to some of the earliest radio comedy ever broadcasted. This episode of H & H Radio will feature 10 roughly 3 minute segments of Sam & Henry, which was the precursor to NBCs hit radio show Amos & Andy. This stuff is almost 87 years old and it’s still awesome. Here’s the segments I use on the show in order:

Sam & Henry 04/20/26 Sam Phonin’ His Sweetheart Liza

Sam & Henry 04/20/26 At The Dentist

Sam & Henry 05/27/26 Rollin’ The Bones

Sam & Henry 05/27/26 Buying Insurance

Sam & Henry 05/28/26 At The Fortune Teller

Sam & Henry 1926 Song – Gorgeous

Sam & Henry 1926 Song – Meadow Lark

Sam & Henry 1926 Who’s Your Who?

Sam & Henry 07/07/27 Sam’s Big Night

Sam & Henry 07/07/27 The Morning After

Featuring a broadcast 77 years ago to the day, The Johnson’s Wax Program, featuring Fibber McGee and Molly – as broadcast by NBC on December 9, 1935, entitled “Christmas Shopping”.

Music in the background during my intro was “Night Train” by Jimmy Forrest and “Boogie Woogie’s Mother-In-Law” by Buddy Johnson.

Episode 1

Welcome to the Hysterical Historical Radio™ Podcast, or what I will undoubtedly call the “H and H Radio™” Podcast! This debut podcast, EPISODE ONE, also covers the debut of the old-time radio show called “Fibber McGee And Molly”, one of my favorite OTR series of all time.

I originally thought I’d cover the shows just like I listened to them – one series at a time, one episode after another…but that might not work for podcasting purposes. Please give me some input on this as to what you’d prefer as a listening audience. My second thought was to be more seasonal and topical with the variety of shows out there spanning the Golden Age of Radio — in this instance, comedy shows (thus the “hysterical” part in H & H Radio).
